Short version: Berry Budget stores your financial planning data (balances and recurring entries) in the cloud so it syncs across your household's devices. We use Google Sign-In to identify you. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Berry Budget mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App"), operated by imnotstudios ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
Age requirement. The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address in Section 9 and we will delete it promptly.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Google Account Information
When you sign in with Google, Google provides us with your name, email address, and profile photo URL. This is used solely to identify your account within Firebase Authentication and to display your identity inside the App. We do not store your Google password.
2.2 Financial Planning Data
To provide the core budgeting service, we store the following in Google Cloud Firestore on your behalf:
- Opening account balance and projection settings you configure.
- Recurring income and expense entries you create (name, amount, schedule).
- Household membership records (Firebase User IDs of members and their join timestamps).
- Invite codes you generate to share your household (codes expire after 24 hours).
This data is associated with your Firebase User ID, not directly with your Google account email, within our database.
2.3 Device-Local State
We store a small amount of data locally on your device using the platform's standard preferences storage (Android SharedPreferences / iOS NSUserDefaults). This includes the ID of the household you last joined and onboarding completion flags. This data never leaves your device independently and is cleared when you uninstall the App.
2.4 Camera
The App requests camera permission only to scan QR codes used for household invites. No images or video are recorded, stored, or transmitted by us.
2.5 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect: precise or approximate location, contacts, call or SMS logs, microphone audio, health or fitness data, browsing history, installed-app lists, biometric data, or payment card information.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and link you to the correct household.
- To sync your financial planning data across your household's devices in real time.
- To let household members share a budget and view each other's entries.
- To operate invite flows that let new members join your household.
- To restore your data after you reinstall the App or switch devices.
We do not use your data to serve advertisements or build marketing profiles.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 Household Members
All members of a shared household can read the financial data stored in that household (entries, settings, balances). When you join or create a household you consent to this shared access.
4.2 Service Providers (Firebase / Google Cloud)
Our backend infrastructure runs on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), a service of Google LLC. Your data is processed and stored by Google on our behalf under Google's data processing terms. Google does not use this data for its own advertising purposes under that arrangement.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process (court order, subpoena, or equivalent), or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or the public.
4.4 Business Transfers
If imnotstudios is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, user data may be transferred. We will notify you via an in-app notice before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists and the household remains active. You can delete your data at any time:
- Delete your account — available in the App under Settings. This permanently removes your Firebase Auth identity and, depending on your role:
- Member: removes your membership record and any invite codes you created for the household.
- Owner: deletes the entire household including all entries, settings, and member records, then removes your Auth identity.
- Leave a household — removes your membership record without affecting the household's data for other members.
- Delete individual entries — entries are soft-deleted immediately and excluded from all projections. Hard deletion occurs when the household or account is deleted.
If you need assistance deleting your data, contact us at the address in Section 9.
6. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your data:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS.
- Data at rest in Firestore is encrypted by Google.
- Firestore security rules enforce that only authenticated household members can read or write household data. Knowing a household ID alone is not sufficient access.
- Firebase Authentication manages credentials; we never handle or store your Google password.
No system is completely secure. We encourage you not to store highly sensitive financial account credentials within entry names or notes.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have rights to access, correct, port, or erase the personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us (see Section 9). We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Residents of California (CCPA) and the European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR) may have additional rights. We do not sell personal information and do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes we will provide additional notice (such as an in-app alert). Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
